Bow String is Loud????

So, a few weeks ago I replaced the string on my Diamond Black Ice and put on a 60x custom string. I have about 250 shots through the bow with the new string.

When I shoot the bow, the string now makes a "twang" noise which it never did before with the old string. I put some leeches on it and that helped a little but not much.

I was shooting with Jasoncambell the other day and he just had a new string put on his bow (string broke during the WTW 300 shoot). Jason had a custom string built and put on by an archery shop close to here. As he was shooting, it was making the same "twang" sound that mine is making....

Any ideas on why that is happening or what to do to make it go away?

Get a string stop, i have one on my z7 and it works great! I can't imagine why it is now doing that, maybe just because it isn't broken in yet quite enough??? Not really sure, maybe take it into a bow shop and see if they have any ideas. Hope everything works out for ya

I actually just ordered one to give it a try. Not sure how much it will help though cause I never had one on there before the new string....

From my old mathews to my z7, a lot less hand shock and vibration. That is kinda weird, 250 shots should be enough to break a string in, I guess i wouldnt think it would be ooud even if it was.new tho. Hmm, well keep us updated!

string stops are awesome, way better than leaches. if it's a single cam bow check out the string grubs, they work great too close to the working cam for speed and noise.

By string stop are you guys meaning what is usually called a string suppressor ?
If not get one there is a reason just about every bow comes from the factory with one now days.

Here's what I use.

Okay, I got my string stop in the mail today and put it on. I took about 10 shots and the bow is as quiet as the day I bought it. Not sure why I need one now just because I replaced the string but for whatever reason, it ROKS once again!!!

glad the issue is "fixed" out of curiousity, did you recheck the specs on the bow after installing the new cables and string? and is the new string the same material and number of strands?

Yep, the specs are right on and I replaced a 60x string with another 60x. I don't know why it was making the noise the be sting stop sure put a "stop" to it....

If your quiver is on your bow, the plastic hood might be the culprit. Put some rubber bands around it. a lot of times the foam is not as tight as it used to be from sliding broadheads in and out. if the rubber bands or temporarily wrap it with tape. if thats it replace your foam and your good to go.

No quiver on the bow. I don't practice with it on there and I don't hunt with it on there....
