Whitetail Deer Behaviors

Whitetail deer are active around the clock, but not as much during daylight hours.  Deer are often admired for their graceful movement.  They are extremely agile and may bound at speeds up to 30 miles per hour through the woods.  People enjoy watching them run across a field or clearing an obstacle on the run or from a near standstill.  Deer have been known to clear heights as high as 8 feet.  They are also good swimmers.  They often enter lakes or rivers to escape predators.  Whitetails are known for continually using the same trails when traveling from food sources to bedding areas.  Although they typically will not use the same bedding areas they have used previously.
